The CW6180 Large-Bore Conventional Lathe is a heavy-duty horizontal manual lathe engineered for heavy material removal and precise finishing on large-diameter shafts and long industrial piping. Constructed on a 600 mm wide induction-hardened bedway, it offers an 800 mm swing over bed and a 100 mm standard spindle bore. For specialized oilfield drilling, hydraulic cylinder, and heavy tube processing, an optional 140 mm through-bore configuration ensures continuous material passage without sacrificing turning rigidity.

Key Structural Features

Rigid Spindle System: Supported by a 3-bearing structure and powered by an 11 kW main motor, delivering massive cutting torque across 18 speed steps (6–750 rpm).

Hardened Bedways: Heavy cast-iron monoblock bed with high-frequency hardened guideways and soft saddle lining ensures low friction, smooth carriage travel, and minimal wear over years of operation.

Universal Threading Gearbox: Built-in feed box cuts metric, inch, module, and diametral threads directly without requiring frequent gear swaps or external accessories.

Machining Performance & Accuracy

Roundness Error: Maintained within 0.01 mm over a 300 mm measuring length under standard cutting conditions.

Cylindricity Error: Controlled within 0.04 mm over a 300 mm test piece to guarantee straight turning performance.

Rapid Traverse Rate: 4,000 mm/min rapid travel speed for longitudinal and cross feeds drastically cuts down non-productive setup cycles.

Applications of CW6180 Large-Bore Conventional Lathe

Heavy Shaft Turning: Precisely machines outer diameters, steps, tapers, and end faces on solid forged shafts up to 6,000 mm in total length.

Pipe & Sleeve Processing: The 100 mm or 140 mm spindle clearance allows seamless end-threading, internal boring, grooving, and facing on long tubular workpieces.

General Industrial Maintenance: Delivers reliable roughing and fine finishing across structural steel, cast iron, stainless alloys, and non-ferrous metals.

FAQ

Q: What is the standard spindle bore diameter on the CW6180?

A: The standard bore is 100 mm. For larger pipe work, a 140 mm spindle bore upgrade can be specified upon order.

Q: What workpiece materials can this machine handle efficiently?

A: The rigid structure and 11 kW motor handle carbon steel, alloy steel, cast iron, stainless steel, and non-ferrous metals like brass and aluminum.

Q: Does it require gear changes to switch between metric and inch thread pitch?

A: No, the quick-change gearbox supports 50 metric, 26 inch, module, and diametral threads directly via front control levers.

Q: Are support rests included for long-bed models?

A: Yes, steady rests and follow rests are included as standard equipment for all machine lengths over 2 meters.
